Anyone with an interest in music is welcome to become a member of the Society of the Friends of Music! As a contributor to the Friends of Music, you will help provide scholarships to Indiana University Jacobs School of Music students, as well as the general support needed to provide Friends of Music programs and events. In return, you will not only receive the knowledge that your efforts have made a difference in a student's life, but you will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the following benefits:

  • The Libretto, the Friends of Music newsletter.
  • IU Music, the annual IU Jacobs School of Music magazine.
  • Invitations to special events like the Fall Gala and the Travel Grant Competition.

Guarantor Scholarship Circle - Annual contributions of $5,000 and up

  • Cole Porter ($5,000-$9,999)
  • Hoagy Carmichael ($10,000 and up)

Benefits:

  • Designation of a specific scholarship student who directly receives your contribution.
  • Parking reservations are available at the Musical Arts Center for operas and ballets.
  • Recognition in every opera and ballet program.
  • Invitation to the annual Free Membership Event.

 Herman B Wells Circle - Annual contributions of $1,000 to $4,999

  • Silver ($1,000-$2,499)
  • Gold ($2,500-$4,999)

Benefits:

  • Parking reservations at the Musical Arts Center for operas and ballets.
  • Recognition in every opera and ballet program.
  • Invitation to the annual Free Membership Event.

Dean Wilfred Bain Circle - Annual Contributions of $100 to $999

  • Patron ($500-$999)
  • Sustainer ($200-$499)
  • Donor ($100-$199)

Benefits:

  • Recognition in every opera and ballet program.
    (Annual Contribution of $100-$999)
  • Invitation to the annual Free Membership Event.
    (Annual Contribution of $200-$999)

Contributors to the Friends of Music (Annual Contributions of up to $100)

  • Supporter (Up to $100)
Endowments

The Friends of Music also prides itself on the many scholarship endowments that have been established bearing the Friends of Music named. An endowment is an opportunity to ensure the future of the Jacobs School in perpetuity. A minimum of $25,000 is required to create a named endowment, which can be fulfilled in installments for up to five years.
