Careers

“It's a small community, the classical music community, along with the excitement of new places and new things and this feeling of being at home wherever you go because that's where your community is.”    Joshua Roman, Cellist

This week we focus on living and working abroad after graduation. Below, you’ll find two resources that help lay out the range of issues involved in this career decision—from nuts-and-bolts practicalities to the many issues that can arise when you find yourself living in a culture different from the one you were raised in.

Explore the resources, then join us THIS Friday for an informational workshop to expand on these themes!

American Citizens Abroad is a non-profit membership organization for Americans living abroad to find resources and support for issues arising while living outside the United States.

Transitions Abroad, in contrast, is an organization and magazine that focuses on the quality of life when living abroad, looking at it as an opportunity for cultural immersion. Consequently, the kinds of resources shared and articles listed focus more on the experience of being abroad than the legal concerns of overseas living. This site will also connect you with resources in different parts of the world if you want to explore moving overseas after graduation. They have been around for over 38 years.

You should also be spending some time on our own IU Office of Overseas Study website for additional resources.

See below for Living and Working Abroad workshop and registration details.
