Faculty/Guest Recital Rules

Rules Governing Faculty/Guests Recitals in the Jacobs School of Music

  1. All recitals involving faculty or guests should be proposed by either current members of the faculty or by the dean’s offices, regardless of whether the event is a guest recital, a recital by a retired faculty member, or any other person, and must be approved by the PCC (through the PCC Agenda Committee).
  2. Programs for such recitals must be submitted in writing to the Music Programs office at least four weeks prior to the intended recital date, and must contain accurate timings on all particular works in the recital.
  3. Faculty/guest recital programs must be over and the performance hall vacated completely (not just the stage area) according to the following schedule:

Auer Hall

Performances starting at:

2:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 3:30

4:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 5:30

6:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 7:30

8:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 10:00

Ford and Recital Hall

Performances starting at:

1:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 2:10

2:30 p.m., hall must be vacated by 3:40

4:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 5:10

5:30 p.m., hall must be vacated by 6:40

7:00 p.m., hall must be vacated by 8:10

8:30 p.m., hall must be vacated by 10:30

  1. Faculty/Guest recitals cannot be scheduled after Thanksgiving during the fall semester, and after March 31, during the spring semester.
  2. Faculty and Guest recitals may include as many as 13 assisting performers and a conductor per work. The addition of more assisting performers must be approved by the PCC, and such participation should not interfere with ensemble assignments, academic responsibilities, or lessons.
