Performing the best of the Great American Song Book, jazz, pop and contemporary music, The Singing Hoosiers feature collegiate performers from the world-renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, as well as students with a variety of other majors, from throughout the IU campus. Singing Hoosier concerts are always fun, energetic, inspiring and entertaining and include American popular music, jazz, and Broadway favorites with dazzling choreography. The ensemble has a long a storied tradition of excellence, tours regularly and has performed throughout the world, with major symphony orchestras, and made recordings on major labels.
Founded in 1950, the Singing Hoosiers have had only four directors prior to Ly Wilder: Steve Zegree, George Krueger, Robert Stoll and Michael Schwartzkopf.
