Voice

Hit your high note

When you pursue a degree in voice performance, you study with world-class faculty and perform with peers who share your passion. As a student, you will have many opportunities to perform, beginning with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Opera and Ballet Theater. We produce five fully staged operas and one musical, all double cast with orchestra, each season.

We strive to provide a positive atmosphere where you are free to pursue collaboration and immerse yourself in your craft through concentrated study.

Our alumni sing in major opera houses all over the world and teach in K–12 schools, colleges, and universities across the country.

Perform on a regular basis

The Jacobs community puts on more than 1,100 performances each academic year—and you’ll be among the players.

In addition to our Opera and Ballet Theater, we’re home to numerous ensembles, bands, and choirs. That gives you the freedom to explore. You may perform with an existing group or find some like-minded peers, and form one of your own.

There are no limits to the opportunities waiting for you here.

I have been a part of many amazing opportunities and have been able to delve into all kinds of study and performance that I wouldn't have experienced elsewhere. The knowledge I have gained and the opportunities I have had at Jacobs have been invaluable.
