 Midwest Composers Symposium

The 2013 Midwest Composers Symposium will take place at the University of Michigan, November 15 - 16, 2013.

All currently enrolled IU composers are invited to submit no more than 2 scores (written during residency at IU) for performance consideration at the Symposium. Selected composers are responsible for providing IU players to perform their works.

In order to involve as many IU composers as possible, pieces with shorter durations will be favored; chamber works for 4-6 instruments are particularly appropriate. Indicate on your score the duration of the piece; if it is a multi-movement work, also indicate if any movements can be performed separately. The deadline is September 9, 2013, 2PM.

Selected composers will need to submit the following materials no later than October 7, 2013:

a) Composer Information: composer’s name exactly as it is to appear in the program, year of birth, and e-mail address.
b) Composition information: title of composition (with movements, etc., as they should appear in the program), year completed, and duration. Indicate if this performance will be a premiere.
c) Program notes and bio should be attached on a separate sheet. Please limit each to 250 words.
d) Names of performers
e) If the piece is an electro-acoustic work, indicate what equipment is needed.

All submissions that do not meet the deadline will not receive special considerations. Please submit PDF scores mp3 recordings to the composition coordinator ( via e-mail, along with general information about the piece (title, duration, year completed, instrumentation). Please make sure your files are labelled in the following format:
