Application Procedures
Visiting Students
Students who have matriculated at other institutions or individuals who wish to attend the IU Jacobs School of Music as a visiting student during the Fall or Spring semesters must complete the same application process required of degree applicants. Please refer to the application instructions that pertain to your situation (e.g. undergraduate domestic, graduate domestic, undergraduate international, etc.)
In addition, visiting students should contact the teacher with whom they would like to study or the chair of the appropriate department. You must arrange for a faculty member to support your application. If you are applying for performance study, you must also have a faculty member agree to accept you into their studio. That faculty member must submit an e-mail or letter to the Office of Music Admissions (musicadm@indiana.edu) stating that he or she agrees to take you into their studio as a visiting student. This must be submitted before any admission decision will be made.
Summer-Only Visiting Students
Students interested in studying at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music only for the summer session need to apply to both Indiana University and the IU Jacobs School of Music via a Summer-Only Application. The details of the application procedure differ slightly depending on what type of applicant you are (undergraduate, graduate, or international student), so please click on the link below that pertains to you, and read everything very carefully. If you should need assistance or have any questions, please always feel free to contact the Office of Music Admissions and Financial Aid at (812) 855-7998, or via email at musicadm@indiana.edu.
In addition, students must make arrangements to study with a faculty member in their performance area. That faculty member must submit an e-mail (musicadm@indiana.edu) or letter supporting your application and stating he or she will accept you into their studio.
